    Buckley AFB, CO Housing and Relocation Information

    Housing Information
    The military provides two options for the use of your Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH)
    The first option is living on post. The second option is using your BAH to rent or buy a home off post . We provide you with military friendly information to help you maximize your BAH.

    • The Housing Management Office (720) 847-5815 can answer all of your on- or off-base housing questions. Contact the HMO Office as soon as you know you are moving. You will be provided with the latest information on local housing as well as referral services and relocation assistance. The HMO offers counseling and guidance before entering into a lease agreement, as well as resolving tenant-landlord disputes.

    On Base Housing

    • The Unaccompanied Housing (720) 847-6702 is provided for unaccompanied Airmen in the ranks of E-1 to E-3 and E-4 with less than 3 years of service. Each airmen is provided a private sleeping room, furnishings, bed linens and supplies required for comfortable living. 

    • Buckley AFB on-base housing is privatized and operated by Buckley Hunt Military Communities (303) 340-2066, which offers great amenities such as: washer & dryer hookups, central AC/heating, garages and gated communities.  Neighborhoods such as Keystone, Winter Park, Monarch, and Powderhorn feature 3-4 bedroom single family, duplex and quadplex units with front and back yards and attached garages. Your neighborhood will depend on your rank and if the appropriate space is available. Keep in mind that there is a process involved in renting on-base housing and may include wait times.

    Surrounding Areas
    There are several other communities in the Aurora-Denver metro area, but Aurora is one of the most spread out cities in the US, and commutes start to get long - the nearest major cities are Denver and Centennial. Buckley AFB is in Aurora, and commutes of 20 minutes and more inside the city are normal. Denver is about 45 minutes away; Centennial is about 35 minutes away. Aurora is also one of the largest cities in Colorado, with about 340,000 people, making it the third largest city in the state, and the 56th in the USA. The city has a large number of parks, golf courses, and housing developments. Denver is a major US city, the 22nd largest in the USA, home of about 650,000 people, the three major sports teams plus hockey and soccer, lots of athletics centers, and several museums. Cities near Buckley AFB are: Aurora, Lakewood, and Denver.

    Buckley Air Force Base is located in Aurora, Colorado, and is home to the 140th Wing of the Colorado Air National Guard which offers support services during national emergencies and natural disasters; there are several other units assigned, including the 460th Operations Group, the 460th Medical Group and the 460th Comptroller Squadron.
