Unlike traditional day care, a La Petite Academy education combines our strong Journey Curriculum and a safe, stimulating environment to create meaningful experiences for your child every day.
By focusing on nurturing seven skill areas - an approach we call our Whole Child Education - we help your child develop the critical-thinking skills and intellectual curiosity that fuels success in their kindergarten classrooms and beyond.
Our dedicated and highly trained teachers focus on more than just reading, writing and arithmetic, by also creating active learning experiences around character building, physical activity and social and emotional development. And our unique Kids of Character program leads your child on a journey to answer the question "What does it mean to be a person of character?"

We offer a range of educational and care programs for children of all ages - from infants to school-age children who come to the Academy before and after school. Headquartered in Novi, Michigan, each of our schools is licensed by the state where it operates. Each adheres to the highest standards of safety, security, cleanliness, teaching and loving care.

La Petite Academy:

La Petite Academy was established in 1968, with the purchase of seven university-sponsored schools. A pioneer in education-based care, La Petite Academy formulated the Journey Curriculum, which sets the standard for early childhood education.
As we have grown, we've developed significant resources, such as our own Education Department to set programs and curriculums, as well as top training and professional development for our teachers. Each Academy operates the way any good neighborhood business does. We know our community and we understand how best to serve the parents and children who live there.
In 2007, we became part of the Learning Care Group family. Learning Care Group is one of the largest providers of early childhood care and educational services in the United States.

From infancy to preschool to kindergarten, at La Petite Academy your child will engage in exciting learning activities specifically designed to meet her developmental needs and help her advance to the next level. Our Journey™ Curriculum emphasizes language and literacy, cognitive development, social-emotional skills, physical activity and creativity.

Our core principles begin with the simple truth that each child has a unique and individual nature, worthy of respect, nurture and celebration. We believe that children are natural learners who gain knowledge by doing and communicating — that is why we always plan active and engaging experiences for your child. It is our goal to facilitate experiences that promote children’s natural curiosity to actively learn, while creating an environment that allows children to grow and develop at their own pace.
Beyond the classroom, our Whole Child Education philosophy focuses on the idea that vigorous and intentional play experiences are healthy and essential for young children. Part of this philosophy also includes the belief that positive relationships with peers and caring adults promote social and emotional skills that lay the foundation for lifelong success.

EDUCATION LEADERSHIP:

Each program at La Petite Academy is created by our own Education Department experts who have decades of experience in formal graduate work, teaching and developing curriculums. In consultation with nationally recognized outside experts, they formulate thousands of activities for teachers to choose from, each tied to specific learning objectives.
Our curriculum provides a balanced education for your child at every level of early development. And we go beyond basic academics by instilling positive traits that will lead to a lifetime of success through our proprietary Kids of Character program.
